The challenges
Cost – The key to reducing the costs of your storage footprint is understanding your data. It’s estimated on average 70-80% of data held on primary storage is not used. This leads to unnecessary upgrade, support, backup, and energy costs.

Cost – Spectra has the ability to scan your primary storage providing you with an understanding of your data, and enabling you to identify, set policy, and seamlessly migrate legacy data onto a lower-cost tier of storage. This can be low-cost NAS, cloud, or tape. Reduction of data on your primary storage frees up expensive capacity in turn diminishing time between upgrades. As the legacy data has been migrated the need for backing this data up weekly or monthly may no longer apply, thus reducing your backup window and potentially backup capacity licensing.
Compliance – When data is migrated to Spectra you remain protected and compliant with our immutable snapshots and the added protection of Multi-factor Authentication to prevent malicious access. For those organisations that require an offline copy of this data, Spectra can provide an additional air gap utilising encrypted tape.
Deleting data – For those organisations that require data to be deleted after a certain period of time, Spectra can provide scheduled, policy-driven deletion.
Data accessibility – Â Once your legacy data has been migrated, Spectra provides seamless retrieval of data with the click of a mouse. Permissions can be set up as to who is allowed access and who is not. This can also reduce unnecessary egress fees should you migrate to the cloud.
